One of everyone's important days in their lives is usually, our own birth, first day of school, graduation, wedding, and the birth or our children. You never forget your labor nurse and the day you become a parent for the first time, but also for the following times. In preparing for this most important day you make decisions on a name, color and decor of the nursery, and what doctor and hospital you want to deliver your baby. At Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, we understand your unique needs as a mother. We pride ourselves on giving personal care and meeting the needs of mother's to be and their plan for the birthing experience . We also offer birthing classes for new mothers to prepare them for the experience. And we are ready to make your birthing experience as special as the precious cargo that is on its way......
Nursing Staff
Our nursing staff is the cornerstone of what makes us so special. All have extensive experience in Obstetrical care. And though they are an elite team of professionals, they are also a caring family. Their trademark is EXPERIENCE. For example, our 20 Obstetrical nurses have a combined 300 plus years of experience at GVMC and other respected hospitals. The entire department is lead by a 39-year veteran of obstetrical/maternity care.

LDR (Labor, Delivery, and Recovery) Suites
Two LDR's are available on the unit where Mom labors, delivers the baby and after recovery is moved to a post partum room. Our LDR's have state of the art equipment including birthing beds, infant warmers, cable television, CD players with relaxation CD's, exercise balls for labor, and recliners for your significant other to stay with you during your labor.

Nursery
Our Well-Baby Nursery accommodates 10 bassinets. Moms in the post partum rooms can decide when she wants her baby to room in with her. Our unit is built around family and we are flexible with your needs. Our nursery can also accommodate infants that need closer observation and/or need to be transferred to another facility for mechanical ventilation to assist in breathing.

Post Partum Rooms
After you have delivered in our LDR suite or had a C-Section in or newly renovated operating rooms, you will move to a post partum room. A rocking chair is provided for your convenience as well as a fold-out love seat so Dad can spend the night if he chooses. Your nurse will always bring your baby to you in a bassinet and may stay with you as long as you wish.
