The Greenbrier Valley Medical Center sponsors two programs that are designed to benefit the senior citizen population. The Seniors program is designed to involve people fifty and older in activities that will give them Exercise programs, Educational opportunities, Health Screenings as well as other benefits. It is a proven fact that seniors, who keep active and keep their minds active, stay more alert longer in their lives. There are many benefits associated with being a member of the program that will enhance the lifestyle and well being of seniors. At present we have approximately 2300 members.
Another program that works with seniors is the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center Auxiliary. The program consists of volunteering one day a week or more, if the need arises. As a volunteer you might assit in a patient registration area, give directions to visitors, work in the gift shop, or transport patients to various areas of the hospital. The benefit for the volunteer is the opportunity to interact with patients and employees, as well as each other. There are both ladies and gentlemen in the program.
We also have candy stripers that work in the summer and holidays from the local high schools. If you would like to become a part of any of these programs, please contact Brooke Glover, Marketing Coordinator at 647-6096.
