April 29, 2009 has been proclaimed Core Measures Day at GVMC. Core Measures are evidence based approaches that medical experts recommend as a basis for appropriate, quality care. They are essential proven therapies that have been shown to reduce the risk of complications, prevent recurrences, and otherwise assist the vast majority of patients who come to the hospital for treatment of a condition or illness. Core measure focus is on patients who are treated for pneumonia, congestive heart failure, heart attacks, and some surgical procedures. Standard protocols are in place for the treatment of these patients. Through a collaborative effort among caregiver, patients presenting to GVMC can expect the same quality of care that they would expect to receive at any other healthcare facility.
GVMC has been consistent with achieving high core measures scores. To see how GVMC compares to other area hospitals visit our website at www.gvmc.com and follow the link to www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
In recognition of Core Measures Day, GVMC is also sponsoring a “Core Measures coloring contest” that is open to all grade school children within the area. Winners will be announced and prizes presented to the winner of the kindergarten through third grade and fourth grade through fifth grade at the annual health fair to be held at the fairgrounds May 2. For a copy of the coloring contest picture and submission deadline, please visit our website.
GVMC would like to take this opportunity to say Thank-You to all of our patients for your continued support as we strive to offer the quality of care that you have come to expect.
